Customers must not be overburdened with 'unnecessary information' says trade body

The FSA’s review of general insurance regulation due to be published at the end of June must provide a consistent principles–based framework for the selling of general insurance, the ABI said today.

Nick Starling, the ABI’s Director of General Insurance and Health, said: "The FSA’s review must enable customers to take informed decisions without being overburdened with unnecessary information. Its rules must focus on stopping real customer detriment, not providing an over elaborate safety net. This can be done without sacrificing levels of customer protection”.
