Travel insurer also launches product for ‘non-standard’ risk customers

FirstAssist Insurance Services has appointed Jody Baker as head of new business.

Baker joins from Mondial Assistance following spells at AIG and RBS Insurance.

The travel insurer has also launched Travel Insurance Plus, a new product for ‘non-standard’ risk customers who exceed scheme medical thresholds or age limits.

Travel Insurance Plus is aimed at affinity partners’ higher risk customers who find it difficult to obtain travel insurance, claiming to provide superior levels of cover compared to equivalent ‘impaired life’ products with a range of features for independent travellers that others do not offer as standard.

The launch of Travel Insurance Plus is timely, with age-related charities increasingly scrutinising the effectiveness of the ABI’s age ‘signposting’ initiative.

FirstAssist chief executive Alistair Hardie said: “The launch of Travel Insurance Plus and Jody’s appointment are further demonstration of our on-going investment in our travel insurance capabilities, allowing us to further improve the proposition we offer to our affinity partners.

“Jody’s appointment adds yet more expertise and further enhances our credentials as the market-leading travel insurance provider for affinity partners.”
