HBOS and Peter Wood have launched a women-only car insurance offering called First Alternative Woman.
First Alternative Woman said research from the Social Issues Research Centre had shown that “men will naturally tend to revert back to their Stone Age characteristics when driving”, making them more aggressive.
The company said female drivers could expect to save approximately £130 on average on their annual premiums by using First Alternative Woman.
Policy benefits include courtesy cars and a recommended repairer network, breakdown assistance, low mileage discount, the potential to increase personal belongings cover, and an additional 10% discount if the insurance is purchased online.
First Alternative Woman's Jack Brown said: “First Alternative Woman has been designed to specifically meet the needs of all women drivers – we recognise that women are less likely to make claims than men, and as such, we're rewarding them through cheaper premiums.”
