Appointment to focus on development of commercial lines products
Open GI has appointed Jes Westerman to the new role of head of insurer software development, as part of plans to further expand the range of products available for brokers, particularly across commercial lines.
With a career in IT development spanning over 12 years, Westerman has held a number of different positions from development leader to solutions architect. He was previously employed as technical director at Sirius (now part of SSP), where he worked for six years, implementing global IT solutions.
Westerman’s prior experience includes developing production control systems for major manufacturing companies and IT project management in countries such as South Africa. He has a degree in physics and a masters in software development and has also lectured in IT at Westhill College of Higher Education in Birmingham.
In his new role at Open GI, he is responsible for the development of all Open GI insurer products - both open market and broker specific, and for the management of a team of 30 plus staff – a figure which is likely to expand. There are now over 1,000 products on the Open GI system, higher than any other software house.
Westerman's appointment is part of Open GI’s continual investment in research and development and will support the company as it moves into a new phase of growth under the ownership of Towergate.
