Philip Gregory becomes chairman of Medicals Direct Group
Former HSBC Insurance Brokers chief executive Philip Gregory has been appointed chairman of medical services solutions provider Medicals Direct Group.
The company said his appointment follows a period of significant expansion by the group and the appointment of several new senior executives.
Gregory left HSBC Insurance Brokers last year when it was acquired by Marsh.
His previous roles include stints at Marsh, Tullett’s and Municipal Mutual Insurance.
Gregory said: "I see clear opportunities for Medicals Direct to capitalise on its recent dynamic growth and acquisitions, and further benefit from its leading market position in medical services.
"The potential for the growth of its healthcare business is very exciting. I look forward to bringing my experience to bear on a period of domestic and international expansion for the Group.”
Medicals Direct chief executive Mike Benton said: “I have no doubt that Philip will bring invaluable practical expertise to the board and that his impressive range of experience and wide circle of influence will help to open up opportunities at a time of significant expansion.
“We increased in size significantly during 2010, following a series of carefully-considered takeovers and we’ve also expanded into Europe. The calibre of leadership and advice that Philip brings will be immensely constructive at this stage of our development.”
