Jack Burton, insurance partnerships lead for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Samsara, reveals why the company should win the Excellence in Risk Management category at the 2022 Insurance Times Awards
Explain briefly about your entry in the Excellence in Risk Management category.
Samsara is a global tech company that empowers fleet managers and business leaders to track vehicle and operational data in real-time.
We enable fleets to monitor — and act upon — road risk and driver behaviour. Our platform pinpoints the cause and location of risks within a fleet.
Crucially, the data we produce provides actionable insights into commercial motor fleet risk, enabling insurers and fleets to better manage risk.
What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?
Telematics and camera providers are not new to the insurance industry.
What makes Samsara stand out is our smart technology, our approach to risk and the way we collaborate with insurance partners.
Instead of simply capturing video and evidence that can be reviewed after an accident, Samsara’s technology proactively addresses risk while drivers are on the road, warning them about incidents before they happen.
As a result, fleets have seen claims decrease by 30% over a typical policy term.
What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
To win this award would be recognition of the work we do with fleets and insurance partners to improve client risk profiles and insurer loss ratios.
More importantly, it would shine a light on all the good work being done to make roads and fleets safer.
