Miles Cowan, partner and head of client services and markets at Horwich Farrelly, tells Insurance Times why he believes the law firm should win the Excellence in Professional Development category at the 2022 Insurance Times Awards
Explain briefly about your entry in the Excellence in Professional Development category.
HFTV has transformed how our clients can access training material on demand.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, everyone’s priority was ensuring that their employees were quickly able to work from home - staff training took a back seat.
At the same time, however, we knew that if our clients stopped investing in their claims team’s development, their results would quickly suffer. Within a week of the first lockdown, we launched HF@Home - a precursor to HFTV.
HF@Home provided weekly training videos to our clients. Their feedback told us that our response was quicker and the quality of our offering was far better than any other law firm or supplier in the market.
Since then, we have amassed over 190 videos and 90 hours of content on topics ranging from the basics of a credit hire claim to accident reconstructions, fraud and public liability trials and even videos on mental health and wellbeing.
This evolved into HFTV, which is a Netflix-style platform, where our clients can access this valuable content on demand.
What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?
No one else provides this volume and quality of content to their clients for free.
What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
It would be a fantastic acknowledgement for everyone who has contributed to making HFTV such an innovative and valuable client solution.
