Europ Assistance has signed a new travel insurance deal with RIAS, an insurance specialising in personal lines for the over 60s.

It said the deal included insurance, worldwide assistance and claims handling for all travel customers. The service will go live in early 2004, said Europ Assistance.

The arrangement will cover single, annual multi trip and long stay cover, in addition to legal and medical insurance elements. The cover is underwritten by Europ Assistance's parent company, Generali.

The two companies had an existing deal covering Europe Assistance providing UK motor breakdown assistance cover for RIAS customers over the past five years.

Sales will be handled by RIAS, with Europ Assistance providing travel and claims support from its Navan, Ireland call centre, and medical and legal advice from its Haywards Heath offices, said the company.
