Insurance sector employment prospects have shown strong growth, according to the latest research from Manpower, the recruitment company.
Manpower's “Quarterly Survey of Employment Prospects” for the fourth quarter showed that "net job gains" within the insurance sector stood at 24, up from 15 shown in the survey conducted on third quarter employment prospects.
"Net job gains" is calculated by asking each company in the survey whether it expects an increase, decrease or no change in the staffing levels at its location in the three months to the end of December 2001.
The percentage of companies expecting a decrease in staffing levels is subtracted from the percentage of companies expecting an increase.
The survey was carried out in the first week of September. In total, more than 2,000 company directors, general managers and company secretaries across 19 sectors were surveyed.
Manpower said research conducted after the terrorist attacks in the US, from a sample of respondents, indicated that only 5% of companies contacted had lowered their employment prospects forecasts.
