Chubb is linking up with the security firm Identidot to provide extra protection for antiques, fine art and valuables.

Identidot permanently leaves a security mark using DNA solution and microdots.

It enables policyholders to create a log book for every item marked. The company makes a description and takes ten digital photos.

“In the event of a prized possession being stolen we place a description and photograph on to our website www.indetidot.com stolen register, liaise with major auction houses, valuers and so on,” said Idenitidot director Ian Whittock.

“There is every likelihood that it will be recovered, thus giving the owner back his prized possessions and creating a new profit centre for insurers.”
