Consumer Intelligence has published a league table of motor insurance, with Direct Line emerging as the preferred provider of more than 10% of those surveyed in March.
The next most popular motor insurance provider was Norwich Union, which won favour with 9.7% of consumers. Big movers were Admiral, Privilege and Swinton, while esure and Elephant lost ground.
Ian Hughes, managing director of Consumer Intelligence, said: “2005/6 has been a tough year for insurance companies with a huge amount of competition and premiums only recovering during the last quarter of 2005. There have been winners and losers and it will be fascinating to track this over time. We intend to monitor the market much more closely looking for consumer trends on a month to month and quarter to quarter basis”.
