Insurance stumbling block in Beckham loan deal
Footballer David Beckham's proposed transfer to Tottenham Hotspur was put in doubt yesterday because of 'insurance issues'.
Spurs are hoping to seal a short-term loan deal for former England captain Beckham from his US parent club LA Galaxy.
However, the move hit a stumbling block over a fee demanded for Beckham's insurance upon playing in England, according to reports.
LA Galaxy wanted insurance for Beckham after he was injured whilst playing for AC Milan last season on a similar loan agreement.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports News yesterday morning: "I don't think it's going to happen.
"I spoke with the chairman and I think there are big problems with insurance issues and everything.
"He got injured last year at Milan, I think there was issues there with insurance."
Beckham has agreed to spend the next month training with Spurs instead. However reports last night stated that a deal could still be completed.
