Breaking: A jury at Southwark Crown Court today found ex-CEO Paul Asplin guilty of defrauding the insurer
Former DAS chief executive Paul Asplin has today been found guilty of fraud against his ex-employer.
Asplin had been standing trial since April alongside five other co-defendants.
Of the other defendants former DAS claims manager David Kearns and Asplin’s ex-wife Sally Jones were also found guilty by the jury at Southwark Crown Court.
Asplin was accused of conspiring to defraud the insurer on two separate counts with firms DAS did business with – Med Report and CW Law.
All defendants charged with fraud in relation to CW Law were found not guilty.
Standing trial alongside Asplin were his wife Karen Asplin, ex-wife Sally Jones, his friend Robert Dalley, former claims manager at DAS David Kearns, and Kearns’ wife Jayne Kearns.
All except Mrs Asplin were accused of conspiring to commit fraud in regards of Med Report. Mr and Mrs Asplin and Mr Kearns were also accused of conspiring to commit fraud in regards of CW Law.
Mrs Asplin, Dalley and Mrs Kearns were found not guilty on all charges against them.
Those found guilty have been bailed until Friday, when they will return to Southwark Crown Court for sentencing.
DAS refused to comment.
