Cyber crime will officially become the country’s most common offence this week.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is planning to release new statistics on Thursday which will include cyber crime for the first time.
It is predicted that the total number of victims of cyber crime will soar by millions overnight.
Previous ONS studies have estimated the number of cyber crimes at between three and four million per year - meaning there will be a dramatic rise on the annual number of offences in England and Wales, last estimated at 6.8 million, The Telegraph reports.
