The Cooper Gay Group has appointed Frank Witthun as a director and non-executive chairman of Cooper Gay in succession to Michael Jones who has decided to step down after 14 years as chairman.
Witthun brings to the role vast experience in the international insurance broking world. He became CEO of the US insurance broker Acordia in 1994 and built it to become the fifth largest retail insurance broker in the US completing some 80 acquisitions.
Jones has worked for Cooper Gay in both executive and non-executive roles for over 41years, during which time Cooper Gay has grown to be one of the largest independent insurance brokers based in London.
Toby Esser, group chief executive said, "Cooper Gay is fortunate to be able to appoint Frank Witthun, one of the international insurance community's most respected figures, to succeed Michael Jones as non-executive Chairman of the Board. The Group is entering an exciting phase of its development and is well-positioned to take advantage of the many opportunities available in the market. I am absolutely confident that Frank's experience and advice will be a crucial factor in driving the Group forward.
"It is however with some sadness that we say farewell to Michael Jones who has been a key figure during our period of rapid growth especially over the past 10 years. I would like to express my thanks to Michael for his major contribution over such a long and distinguished career."
