Former Willis MD is joined by Andy Smallwood from Gallagher
Colmore Insurance Brokers has appointed Richard Waltier as its new managing director, Insurance Times has learned.
Waltier, a former regional director of Willis, joins the Birmingham-based broker alongside Andy Smallwood, who will also take up a director role and be responsible for sales and marketing.
Insurance Times revealed last month that Smallwood had left Arthur J Gallagher’s UK retail board as its national development director.
Colmore Insurance began trading at the beginning of this year and Waltier becomes its first managing director.
“We’ve set ourselves to be writing £20m gross written premium in less than three years and it’s also our intention within the next 12 months to open two subsidiary offices in the Midlands,” Waltier said.
”There’s been a lot of consolidation with the smaller brokers and some of the values and client focus has been lost in that in certain segments in the marketplace and we absolutely think we can bring that back.
“Our appetite is in four key sectors: commercial insurance, real estate and charity and care, and we will also support private clients,” he said.
The broker was set up as a charity and care specialist by Andy Copeland who has more than 20 years’ experience working for independent regional brokers.
Rounding out the board of directors alongside Waltier, Smallwood and Copeland is Jon Chance who will be involved in client relationships and development.
