Insurer hail development of technical support framework
Royal & SunAlliance’s (R&SA) Underwriting Excellence Programme has been formally accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
The training programme, which was launched in 2006, is designed to support the technical progression of underwriters, providing them with a framework of technical development support.
The programme delivers a range of tools and skills to facilitate underwriters’ personal technical development such as underwriting strategy statements, rate flexibility guides, coaching and mentoring toolkits, and a specialisms database providing access to over 300 of the Group’s technical experts. Also incldued is a Case Learning Library highlights examples of best technical practice at individual case-level, and the Masterclass programme, which consists of a series of technical underwriting presentations delivered monthly via the intranet so that the global underwriting community can access technical training solutions.
Martin Alderman, R&SA Broker Underwriting Capability Director, said: “The purpose of seeking accreditation was to demonstrate to our underwriting community our commitment to improving R&SA’s underwriting capability and confidence, thus enabling underwriters to meet our targets for profitable growth”.
CII Director of Accreditation Services, Tamsin Mills, added: “We are delighted to award CPD Accreditation in recognition of this quality programme. The Underwriting Excellence programme provides Underwriters with the tools & skills necessary to develop as underwriters. The programme also assists them with their continuing professional development.”
