Chilton steps down as non-executive chairman of Aon Benfield
UK reinsurance broking stalwart Grahame Chilton has been named non-executive chairman of Aon’s new UK holding company.
Chilton, nicknamed “Chily”, is currently non-executive chairman of reinsurance broker Aon Benfield, a vice-chairman of Aon group and a member of Aon’s executive leadership team. Chilton will rescind these roles. It is understood he will still be available to Aon Benfield as an adviser.
Aon is shifting its headquarters to the UK from Chicago. As part of the move, it will establish a new UK holding company, Aon Holdings Limited, which will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange in place of the current holding company, Aon Corporation.
Chilton joined Aon at the end of 2008 after the company bought Benfield, the reinsurance broker Chilton had run since 1996. Aon merged Benfield with its own reinsurance broker, Aon Re, to form Aon Benfield.
