Founder of DRS leaves company for new role
Specialist lines underwriting agent, CFC Underwriting, has appointed Graeme Newman as Business Development Director.
In a statement the company said the move was part of an aggressive growth plan that will see the business grow premium income by more than 30% in 2008.
David Walsh, managing director of CFC Underwriting, said: “Our business has gone from strength to strength, and we have just reported our eighth successive year of growing revenues and profits. We believe there is significant potential for our business to expand further, both in terms of the products we write and the geographic territories in which we operate – and so I am delighted to welcome Graeme on board to spearhead our efforts. He has a strong entrepreneurial drive and extensive experience both in insurance and the technology industry. He will be a valuable addition to our team and, working together, I am confident that we will achieve our objectives in 2008 and beyond.”
Newman joins CFC from DRS Insurance Services, the specialist broker for technology and new media companies that he co-founded. The business was recently sold to Oxygen. He will be responsible for all components of business and broker development strategy, in addition to bringing new products to market and exploring new international opportunities. He will also be responsible for CFC’s sales and marketing programmes.
Newman said: “CFC has reached an exciting phase in its evolution. In comparison to its competitors, CFC shows real innovation and I believe there are tremendous opportunities to exploit both in the UK and overseas. I am delighted to join a team of ambitious and professional individuals, and relish the challenges that lie ahead.”
