Demise of Network Extra fails to dampen TBS efforts to convert 288 interested small brokers to its CBS proposition
The chief executive of Total Broker Solutions (TBS), Mike Williams has declared that its small broker proposition, Community Broking Services (CBS) is on track after the demise of Camberford Law's proposition, Network Extra.
This week Camberford Law chairman and chief executive Richard Sheikh announced that Network Extra will be merged into the main Camberford Law business.
"A number of brokers have said to us they would like to join, but are unwilling to commit to placing 100% of their business through a network," he said.
As a result of the merger, Network Extra managing director Lloyd Hanks will leave the company after helping to implement the new strategy.
Williams said he was "not surprised" that Camberford Law Network Extra had failed, as many pundits had predicted that not all the network offerings in the market would survive.
Of CBS, he said: "We're not a network player in the classical sense. We're there as a service and support offering for brokers."
He said that as of last week, TBS was "in discussions" with 288 brokers about joining CBS. He said a "smallish number" of these brokers had already signed up to the proposition.
Williams said TBS would be making an announcement regarding CBS prior to the Biba conference in late May.
"We're forging ahead very happily indeed," Williams said. "When we get to see them [brokers] they're very happy with the proposition. It's a matter of getting around and seeing them all."
