Insurer lands five year deal with Pets at Home
Capita Insurance Distribution, has announced that it has secured a five year contract with Pets at Home, the UK's largest pet retailer, to provide and fully branded pet insurance products for customers.
The contract will see Capita handle sales, fulfilment and claims handling for the products to be launched this week. And for the first time, it will provide cover for rabbits as well as cats and dogs.
Rob Swyer, business development director at Pets at Home, commented: “Like everything we do, our policies have been developed with the pet at the forefront of our mind. Unlike other insurers, we haven’t gone with a ‘one size fits all’ approach. We’ve developed a range of policies specifically for dogs, cats and rabbits, allowing the customer to choose the level of cover that best suits their pet and their budget. Most providers tend to offer a generic ‘pet’ policy that can cover a cat or a dog and very few cover bunnies. As a business of pet experts we understand that cats and dogs have different health care needs, suffer from different conditions, and as a result, need different levels of veterinary cover.”
Mark Townsend, managing director of Capita Insurance Distribution, added: “As a provider of pet products, Pets at Home is by far the biggest pet-specific retailer in the UK with over 280 retail outlets a footfall of around 500,000 per month. This means they are in a perfect position to provide products to pet owners at competitive premiums. What pet owners need to remember is that even at a time when frugality is necessary, pet insurance is a sensible investment which can provide cover for potentially costly vet bills in years to come as their pets get older.”
Pets at Home will offer pet owners four different cover options for cats and dogs - two annual options and two lifetime options - from which they can choose to protect themselves and their pets against costs associated with vet fees, theft/straying, third party liability, overseas travel, death and locating pet minders.
