Backchat couldn't help but guffaw with his Lloyd's underwriting chums last week at the news that DP Mann boss Nigel Barton had been accidentally shot in the backside at an Aon-sponsored hospitality do.

Aon, in case Backchat has to explain, is big on shooting. Sources close to the company's accounts claim there are two separate hospitality charge codes in Aon's accounts. The small budget figure is for all the other forms of hospitality Aon lays on for underwriters and clients. And the big budget figure is the one set aside for shooting events.

At this particular event, poor old Barton had just let off two barrels of Aon's finest shot when another underwriter standing behind him accidentally let rip with the still loaded second barrel of his gun right into the backside and legs of poor old Barton

But what made Backchat and his chums laugh most was the fact that it was another underwriter who did the dirty deed. At most Aon shoots there are so many Aon staff who want to attend there are never usually enough places for more than a single underwriter.
