Budget home policyholders will be able to compile accurate online inventories if a deal goes ahead with online inventory company Secure Inventories.

Secure Inventories sales and marketing director Steve Read said Budget and Secure Inventories were in "serious and detailed negotiations" to supply Budget's MyHomeInventory service.

Read said that a deal was near completion.

He said the company had also held initial talks to supply the service to several other leading insurers.

It is already available to the public through the Secure Inventories website.

MyHomeInventory allows individuals to compile a secure online inventory of the contents of their house, with values updated in line with government retail price indices.

Once completed, inventories are then stored at a secure site, ensuring they are not lost should there be any damage to the client's home.
