Budget Retail, the high street retailing arm of the Budget Group of Companies, has acquired Yorkshire broker, A to Z Insurance Services.
Budget will acquire its 26,500 personal lines policies and its eight sites. The company will continue to trade as A to Z for the foreseeable future, said Budget.
Budget added that the deal sees Budget's acquisitions team bring in over 60,000 policies this year for the business. It said that with other deals in the pipeline, the number of policies acquired in 2005 should see this increase to 100,000.
Budget Group director Matthew Donaldson said: "This is a fantastic deal for us. We have been particularly active in acquiring individual sites, but this acquisition clearly demonstrates our capacity to integrate multi-site businesses within the network."
A to Z Insurance senior partner Patrick Macminn said: "Budget's proposition was a very strong one. Its flexible approach was very important to us, both in terms of managing the transition of staff to new contracts, and in the ability to continue to trade under the A to Z brand, which is extremely strong in the area."
Budget said all A to Z staff would be retained under the new ownership, with some reorganisation as part of the integration with Budget's retail network.
