Brokers back Aviva amid management reshuffle

Brokers have backed Aviva’s management changes, saying there is still a consistent team at the top.

The changes have seen Colm Holmes move to Canada and Rob Townend take the helm as UK managing director, with extra trading responsibility for intermediaries boss Phil Bayles.

Brokerbililty chairman Ashwin Mistry said: ”Aviva are a very strong management team and we’re aware of the changes.

”From our broking point of view, we have a good relationship Phil Bayles, Gareth Hemming and Rob Townend.

“In terms of trading day to day, the senior management has been strong and stable and consistent. We have had the same people for the last seven years or so”

Simon Mabb, managing director of Leeds top independent broker, Romero, said: ”There have been a number of internal promotions. It’s what happens in big organisations. We don’t see anything big changing in Aviva.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
