Insurer breaks silence after specualtion
Brit Insurance confirmed today that it was looking to buy Lloyd's insurer Chaucer.
The insurance group said in a statement to the Stock Exchange that it was in talks with its smaller rival over a possible all share offer for the company.
It said there could be no certainty that an offer would be forthcoming
In recent months, there has been much speculation about possible bidders for Chaucer.
