ABI says pay-linked targets must not be relaxed in recession

The Association of British Insurers’, (ABI) director of investment affairs, Peter Montagnon, has warned companies that recession should not become an excuse to relax compensation targets for executive pay, the FT reports.

"You would be foolish to delude yourself that if you are paying out big bonuses in bad times that people aren't going to notice," Mr Montagnon said. "Companies need to be sensitive to the climate in which they find themselves."
