BoE keeps interest rates at 0.5%

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee today voted to keep the interest rate at 0.5%.

It is the 12th consecutive month that the interest rate has stayed at 0.5%, a record low.

The bank has also decided not to pump any more money into the economy under its quantitative easing programme. It has already spent £200bn boosting the economy.
