Insurer recruits Nick Wright and Stewart Gardiner
Bluefin is making a swoop for Fusion Insurance managing director Nick Wright and underwriting director Stewart Gardiner as it looks to grow its managing general agency (MGA) division, Insurance Times understands.
Sources told Insurance Times that the duo had been approached by Bluefin. Towergate declined to comment, however.
Wright has been managing director at the Towergate-owned MGA since 2009 and was previously sales director and regional manager.
Gardiner was appointed underwriting director in 2008 and was previously regional underwriting manager for the North West.
Bluefin chief executive Stuart Reid (pictured) announced in February that the consolidator would make “heightened MGA activity” a focus this year.
Bluefin’s MGA activities are currently focused on Epic Underwriting, Newmarket Underwriting and Elite Underwriting.
Fusion is a significant part of Towergate’s underwriting division, which last year turned over £87.2m and posted earning before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of £42.4m. According to the most recent set of accounts available, Fusion Insurance Services turned over £20.3m and made pre-tax profits of £8.4m.
