‘Dynamic, hands-on’ Kenny Hogg joins to grow mid-corporate practice

Bluefin has appointed Towergate’s Kenny Hogg as head of corporate.

He will be responsible for growing the corporate division and reports to chief executive Mike Bruce when he joins on 31 March.

He replaces Howard Fryer who left Bluefin in January after six years.

At Towergate Hogg was the regional managing director of the Scotland and Northern Ireland region.

He was previously responsible for £1bn of commercial business at Standard Life and held senior roles at Wesleyan Assurance Society and Zurich Financial Services.

Mid-corporate clients contribute 30%, or just under £30m, to Bluefin’s turnover.

“We firmly believe that someone of our size and agility, with the right proposition, can be a really viable alternaive to the big multinational brokers,” Bruce told Insurance Times.

“Kenny’s extensive general management experience, allied with his dynamic, hands-on approach are the ideal skills to help energise the division and drive the business forward. I am confident that Kenny, in conjunction with the existing corporate leadership team, can exploit the significant opportunity that exists in the mid-corporate space,” he added.

In August Bluefin hired Marsh’s Rachel Phillips as business development and proposition director for its corporate division.

Hogg said: “Bluefin has a coveted position in the market and I am very pleased to be joining the excellent corporate division here. Bluefin has a real opportunity to capitalise on its market position and we intend to develop the corporate offering further.”
