Motorists who leave the keys in the ignition of their car while defrosting the windscreen may not be insured if their vehicles are stolen, Biba warned today.

Most insurance policies will have specific “vehicle left unattended” clauses that will invalidate cover in these circumstances, according to the brokers group,

Biba's technical services manager Graeme Trudgill said: “Waking up on a freezing cold morning, it can be tempting to save a few extra minutes by starting the engine and warming the vehicle.”
