Biba supports draft Flood Bill

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has welcomed today’s publication by Environment Secretary Hilary Benn of the draft Flood and Water Management Bill and the official opening of the Flood Forecasting Centre.

Graeme Trudgill, BIBA technical and corporate affairs executive, said: “This is a welcome announcement regarding a main BIBA Manifesto point to safeguard UK properties from flood. The BIBA Property Committee will be preparing a full response to the Government.

“BIBA believes these issues are of great importance to the continued provision of flood cover for UK properties. BIBA will, on behalf of its members, continue to promote access to flood insurance through its expert members who have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

“However, we believe it is important not to underestimate the impact of climate change, the Government must continue to action the recommendations from the Pitt report to ensure the continual availability of affordable flood cover in the UK.”
