Ken Davidson chairs new London market broker body
The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) has formed its BIBA London Market Region Committee (LMRC) to represent its London market brokers, replacing the old London Market Brokers' Committee.
LMRC, which met for the first time this week, is chaired by Ken Davidson, chairman of Crispin Speers and former CII president.
LMRC will work with the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Europe, the UK Government and other stakeholders on London issues.
BIBA says it will allow it to engage directly with London market brokers and will enable London market brokers to influence BIBA's key industry and lobbying initiatives such as its manifesto.
Eric Galbraith, BIBA chief executive, said: "LMRC will provide strong representation for London market brokers and also provides a new opportunity for this important sector of the market to be integrated into BIBA's well established structure, which has achieved a number of wins for brokers with the regulator and the Government recently."
Ken Davidson said: "I am delighted to chair LMRC and we will be engaging with as many London market brokers as possible to discuss matters that affect them and where BIBA might focus its effort. Members of LMRC will have the opportunity of representation on the BIBA Board, the General Insurance Brokers' Committee, regional and technical committees."
LMRC will be working with other London market bodies, including Liiba, on areas of mutual interest and to avoid duplication of work.
