Biba has launched a portal to allow its members to control their membership details online.
The move will help to create new business leads from BIBA's consumer helpline and Find a Broker website, the body said.
It said: "The Self Service Portal forms part of a long term plan to develop BIBA's consumer referral system into the leading website search facility for consumers looking for insurance brokers."
Eric Galbraith, BIBA Chief Executive, commented: "The find a broker facility provides a valuable service to many smaller members and the launch of the Self Service Portal will allow many more members to tap into this resource. We are looking at developing the Find a Broker service during the next 12 months and are encouraging all members to update their details as frequently as possible.
“We are determined to make it easier for our members to communicate with the public and to demonstrate that they are treating customers fairly."
He added: "With many consumers using the internet as a key search tool when looking for insurance, I believe that this will help to increase the presence of the smaller broker on the internet. More than 790 members have already used the portal since January and believe that this will prove to be another valuable benefit of BIBA membership."
