Biba has rejected over-50s insurer Saga's call for younger drivers to be hit with higher motor premiums in order to reduce the costs of uninsured driving.
Biba said to penalise honest younger drivers because their age group committed more uninsured driving offences in the UK than any other was the wrong way to deal with the issue.
Uninsured drivers add approximately £30 to premiums each year.
Biba said it had been working with the government to find a solution.
Graeme Trudgill, technical services manager at Biba said: “The new database and enforcement measures, including seizure of vehicles, that are now in place should go a long way to helping us achieve this.”
