Armitage joins as chief operating officer; Sharp handed group role
Barbon Insurance Group has restructured its senior management team after hiring Mark Armitage from Towergate, Insurance Times can reveal.
Armitage is set to become chief operating officer of Barbon's property and commercial division.
The move means Nick Sharp, currently managing director of property and commercial, will be promoted to the new role of group managing director responsible for leading Barbon's acquisition strategy and insurer relationships.
Armitage was most recently operations director of Towergate's underwriting division. Previously he was regional managing director, commercial director and managing director of Power Place.
He said: “I have admired the way that Barbon has progressed in the last few years and I feel I can contribute significantly to its next stage of growth both with property owning clients and the broker community.”
Towergate said Armitage had a big impact and wished him well for the future.
Sharp will focus on acquisitions and continue to retain direct responsibility for Barbon's City-based MGA Zennor.
“I am looking forward to the challenge ahead,” Sharp said. “Having led the recent Rentshield acquisition, my focus remains to find targets that are strategically a good fit"
The pair will report directly to Barbon's chief executive Martin Oliver.
In a separate development, Insurance Times has also learnt that Bluefin's chief financial officer Ian Story is leaving the company.
