Finance director Ian Sutherland to take over as acting chief executive
Barbon chief executive Mike Ramsey is to leave the broker after the sale of its property and commercial division to Arthur J Gallagher.
Finance director Ian Sutherland will become acting chief executive of Barbon on 1 June.
Ramsey is leaving Barbon after just a year in the top job. He joined the broker in June 2012, replacing former chief executive Martin Oliver.
Barbon chairman Jamie Smith said: “Mike was recruited to deliver the sale of the property and commercial division and we thank him for the significant role he has played in achieving this goal.”
He added: “Ian will lead Barbon into the next stage of its development by strengthening our market leading position in a growing rental marketplace.”
Ramsey said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Barbon, we have achieved a great deal. I believe the business is now in a substantially stronger position and I wish it well as it moves into a new phase of its development.”
Before joining Barbon, Ramsey was European chief executive of life, accident and heath at US insurer Cigna. He has also held senior executive roles with American Express Aegon and AXA.
