Simon Ellen replaces Malcolm McCaig who rose to the position of chairman last October
Barbon Insurance Group has appointed Simon Ellen as its new chairman subject to regulatory approval.
Ellen replaces Malcolm McCaig, who has been a Barbon board member for seven years and chairman since last October.
He has previously been chairman and non-executive director at businesses such as First Assist Group Holdings, Garwyn Group and SBJ Group.
Barbon chief executive Martin Totty said: “With major structural changes to Barbon, in the form of the divestment of the property/casualty division last year and the recent transfer of equity in the business to new owners, we now enter an exciting phase in the development of the group. As a result, I am delighted to welcome someone of Simon Ellen’s calibre to Barbon.
“His appointment, which has the full support of our investors, is a clear commitment to growth, and has further strengthened our team to become a truly formidable force in the residential lettings industry.
“The board would like to take this opportunity to thank Malcolm McCaig for his invaluable contribution and commitment over the past seven years and wish him well for future ventures. During this period, the business has been through considerable change, yet has emerged leaner and more focused and well positioned to grow again under supportive new owners.”
Ellen said: “I look forward to joining Martin Totty and his team at Barbon as they build upon the leadership position the company has in providing risk solutions to the property rental market. This specialism is now the focus of Barbon’s activities and the company is now well placed to build stronger and more rewarding links with its customer base.”
