New underwriting manager and sales manager appointed
AXA’s Scottish branch has filled two senior sales and underwriting roles, completing the branch’s management team.
Karen Donald has been appointed Scotland underwriting manager, while Iain Hill is the country’s new sales manager.
Donald has 26 years’ experience in the Scottish market, having worked at Zurich, Chubb and, most recently, Mitsui Sumitomo, where she was branch underwriting manager.
She will join AXA in October and will lead the senior underwriters and broaden the underwriting appetite of the branch.
Hill, who has spent most of his career at Allianz, has joined from AXA’s Ipswich branch, where he was also sales manager. He will focus on completing recruitment in the branch’s sales team and will begin his new role in early August.
AXA Scottish branch manager Ryan Birbeck said: “These appointments complete my management team following the recruitment earlier this year of Julie McNicol as operations manager.”
Commercial intermediary managing director Jon Walker said: “We are serious about our ambitions to be a major player in Scotland and the considerable investment we are making is testament to that. Ryan has attracted high quality individuals to our Scottish operation, which will allow us to develop and build upon our already strong position in the country.”
The appointments of Donald and Hill follow on from the arrival of underwriters Stuart Payne, Lindsay Kessack and Liz Stanners to bolster AXA’s regional, agricultural and mid-market propositions.
