Axa is likely to follow up its new online motor insurance service with other online products, said marketing head Catherine Raoufi.

Axa launched its motor insurance website, called axamotor.co.uk, this week and Raoufi said other insurance products were being considered for the high-tech treatment.

However, she said the decision would be based on customer research, not pressure to compete with other insurers that were going online.

"We're not easily moved into fashion – it's the genuine customer need that we've responded to," Raoufi said.

The new site enables customers to buy policies within two minutes and offers advice on making claims and driving abroad.
