Sandy Dunn and Ian Brimecome take roles
AXA has appointed of Sandy Dunn as non-executive chairman and Ian Brimecome as non-executive director of Venture Preference Limited (VP), the general insurance broker business owned by AXA.
The insurer said the two appointments considerably strengthened VP and were further evidence of AXA’s commitment to building a market-leading distribution business in the UK.

Sandy Dunn has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance sector in Europe. He is currently the non-executive Chairman of both Capita Insurance Services and BDML.
Prior to establishing BDML, Sandy Dunn accumulated a vast experience in the insurance industry having established Eagle Star’s direct operation in 1988/89 and then launching the Touchline direct insurance business in 1993. He was also director of the GAN Group from 1992 to 1998 and established and was Managing Director of Rossborough Insurance Services Limited from 1993 to 1998.
Sandy has held a number of senior positions on industry bodies such as the CII and ABI, and is a Chartered Insurance Broker.
Ian Brimecome has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. In addition to his new role as non-executive Director at VP, Ian is a non-executive Director of AXA UK and was previously a non-executive Director of Winterthur UK Financial Services Group Ltd until December 2006.
He has advised on more than eighty merger and acquisition transactions in the insurance and asset management industries in more than twenty countries. He is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services and a Member of the Institute of Management. He is also Chairman of the Advisory Board of Fox-Pitt Kelton and a non-executive director of The Equitable Life Assurance Society.
