Aviva Canada chief executive Maurice Tulloch to replace him
Aviva’s UK and Ireland general insurance (GI) chief executive Robin Spencer is to leave the insurance group at the end of the month.
Maurice Tulloch, chief executive of Aviva Canada, will replace him.
Spencer headed up Aviva’s UK and Ireland GI business for just over a year. He replaced David McMillan in July 2012 after McMillan was promoted to the role of group transformation director.
Before taking the GI role Spencer was Aviva’s chief risk officer.
Aviva said Spencer had made “a considerable contribution” to the Aviva group over “many years” in both UK and international roles.
Aviva group chief executive Mark Wilson said: “Robin has done a fine job for the group, most recently leading the UK and Ireland GI business through the transformation and expense savings programme. I would like to thank Robin for his considerable contribution to Aviva and he leaves the Group with our best wishes for his future endeavours.”
Commenting on Tulloch’s appointment, Wilson said: “Maurice Tulloch is a first-class executive who will bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise and energy to his new role in the UK and Ireland general insurance business.
“Maurice has an impeccable track record – Aviva’s Canadian operating profits have grown by 63% under his leadership. He is the best leader to take the UK business to the next stage of its development.”
