Hall named QBE Europe’s retail managing director
QBE’s European operation has hired Aviva’s David Hall as retail director.
Hall will start his new role in October.
Hall was managing director of Aviva’s UK and Ireland corporate and specialty risks division, which the insurer re-launched in 2010.
Damien Duffy, the unit’s chief operating officer, will replace Hall as interim managing director until a replacement is found.
In his new role at QBE Europe Hall will lead the retail business, which comprises the UK & Ireland, Europe and Financial & Specialty Markets divisions.
He will report to QBE European operations chief executive Richard Pryce.
Pryce said: “[Hall’s] significant experience and proven success in the corporate insurance market will help us enhance our market presence and develop our business in response to the various needs of the markets in which we operate.”
Aviva UK & Ireland general insurance chief executive Maurice Tulloch said:: “David has been a long-standing, highly effective member of the Aviva general insurance leadership team.
“I have enjoyed working with him and will miss his passion and leadership. We intend to grow Aviva’s large corporate lines business in the future and David leaves us in strong position, with a very capable leadership team who will focus relentlessly on delivering this objective.”
Hall added: “Aviva is a great business with a bright future ahead of it. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Maurice, his leadership team and my colleagues in corporate and speciality risk. I wish them and everyone who works for Aviva all the best for the future.”
Before joining Aviva in November 2010 Hall was Zurich’s chief executive of global corporate UK operations.
