Leeds next on the map for underwriting business
Commercial lines underwriter Arista has set its sights on the North East as it continues its regional expansion.
Arista, which opened an office in Birmingham in March – its sixth regional office – is now targeting the Leeds market to establish itself in the North East market.
Charles Earle, the company’s chief executive, said it had already held “serious talks” about establishing an office in Leeds.
“The North East feels like the next logical approach,” he said.
“It is something that we are looking at very seriously and something we are talking about very seriously.”
Arista currently has a development manager based in Yorkshire to service brokers in the North East but Earle said he was keen to attract local talent.
“We want people who know the local market and have seen the local risks before,” he said.
Earle also refused to rule out expansion into Scotland and Northern Ireland. “[They] will inevitably come on to the radar,” he added.
Arista currently has offices in London, Redhill, St Albans, Manchester, Bristol, Southampton and Birmingham.
Last month, the company launched a management liability portfolio product after sealing a new binding agreement with insurer Hiscox, which is providing cover.
