Steve Ford joins MGA as part of North East expansion
Commercial lines managing general agency (MGA) Arista has appointed Steve Ford as senior underwriter for the Leeds area.
Arista said the hire will be "crucial" to its expansion in the North East.
Ford will underwrite new and existing business across Arista’s core lines of property, liability and motor and will also assist North East broker development manager Neil Wormald with building broker relationships.
Before joining Arista, Ford was senior business development manager for NIG in Leeds. During his career Ford has also worked for Commercial Union and latterly Aviva.
Arista already has an established panel of brokers in the Leeds market and with both broker development and underwriting in the region the firm has now laid the groundwork for a dedicated office. The MGA said broker demand for its presence in the region has brought recruitment forward ahead of plans.
“Steve is very well known in the area and his appointment is a step further towards formalising our presence in Leeds with a dedicated office," Arista chief executive Charles Earle said in a statement.
"His knowledge and experience of insurance and the Leeds area fits perfectly with Arista’s aims of expanding in the region and providing a first class service to brokers.”
