Argyll Environment Ltd has launched an environmental screening report system for use by brokers and underwriters.

It said the Site Solutions Report system would provide low cost screening of the environmental issues on any site in the UK.

Special attention is paid to the potential risk of compulsory clean up if the site, as highlighted under recent environmental legislation, as well as the risk of significant third party injury or property damage, said Argyll.

Managing director Antony Turck, said: “Environmental risk is on the agenda for commercial clients, and it is important that the insurance market can provide practical advice.

“Insurance brokers often concentrate on the buildings and contents, but the land itself may be a much more valuable asset, or a much greater liability.”

The service provides recommendations on risk management issues and can be used by underwriters to price insurance cover, said Argyll.

Its sister company, Argyll Insurance Services Ltd, can undertake the insurance broking if required, it added.

Turck said: “Our in-house legal, technical and insurance skills allow us to provide a one-stop shop for the identity and management of environmental risks.

“Brokers now have a technical resource for environmental risk information. They can broaden their risk management offering, and develop a new revenue stream.”
