Aon has lost one of its most senior high net worth (HNW) brokers to rival HSBC Insurance Brokers, along with two other staff members from that division.

Andrew Jobson, the joint head of Aon private clients, has resigned along with James Pollitt and Susie Steer.

Jobson will become executive director of HSBC's HNW and private clients department, sources said.

Jobson and Pollitt are understood to be on six months' gardening leave, while Steer has already started at HSBC.

Ex-Marsh broker Kate Wells has already joined the team.

Sources said that HSBC was looking to make a push on HNW with emphasis on

"customer service rather than margin".

HSBC Insurance Brokers declined to comment on Jobson's appointment.

A statement from Aon said: "Andrew Jobson has left Aon's private clients division to take up a position at HSBC and we wish him well in his new role.

"Rod Mitchell, who has many years of experience with Aon in the high net worth sector, and jointly managed private clients with Andrew Jobson, has now assumed overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of Aon private clients."
