IIB director general passed away earlier today
IIB director general Andrew Paddick died earlier today.
Barbara Bradshaw, director of the Institute, said: “Andrew’s death has come as a complete shock to us all at the Institute. I was with him in Belfast on Monday and Tuesday of this week, and although he was still suffering from the after effects of the flu, he was on good form.”
Graham Gomm, IIB Chairman said: “The death of Andrew Paddick came as a tremendous shock. I had known Andrew since those early days of the IIB at Telford and over the years had come to know him and his family very well.
"Andrew had tremendous enthusiasm and devotion to the cause of helping Insurance Brokers, even those who didn’t agree with his views had to admire his determination to succeed. His battles with the General Accident, the Treasury and Regulators in general will long be remembered – a great fighter. Andrew achieved the ‘impossible’ with the formation of Broker Direct, which has gone from strength to strength. He was a kind, thoughtful gentle man who always had time for others. He will be sadly missed by us all.”
John Greenway, IIB President said. "I am deeply shocked and saddened at the news of Andrew’s death. For twenty years his unique style of representing the interests of insurance brokers rightly won him many friends and plaudits from the industry and his death leaves a huge void in broker representation.
"We owe it to Andrew and all that he achieved to carry on fighting for broker interests in the way I know he would want."
Barbara Bradshaw further commented: “Obviously the Board will be meeting shortly, but in the meantime it is business as usual at the Institute.”
