Allianz Cornhill is to move some of its business processes to India, revealed a report. It has set up an offshore company, Allianz Cornhill Information Services to handle the transferred jobs.

The move will see 400 jobs created in India by the end of 2005, in areas such as administration, IT and call centre operations. The company said it will have moved 50 jobs to India by the end of 2004, with growth continuing until all 400 have been transferred.

According to the report, affected parts of the UK business will include data processing and some call centre operations, particularly in Bristol.

Allianz Cornhill director of IT and offshore operations John Knowles said: "The jobs we are transferring to our offshore company in India are often those jobs that are difficult to fill and with high staff turnover."

He said the company expected to complete the transfer with minimal redundancies.
