Insurance Times will be reporting from the Airmic 2012 conference
Here we go!
The pre-conference buzz is in the air at the Echo Arena Liverpool, host to Airmic, the annual risk managers get-together. All the big brokers and commercial insurers are building their stands, and early conference talks are happening at hotels across the city. Prof Stephen Carver from Cranfield is lecturing on crisis management at the Academy session. So far, so good. Aon is hosting drinks at tonight’s France v England game so I’m headed there now. If I just smile and nod then nobody need know that I’m clueless about football.
Getting ready for Liverpool
Ahead of the Airmic 2012 conference in Liverpool, I’m mugging up on the latest big stories in risk management by scouring the website of Insurance Times’s sister title Strategic Risk. The range of different potential exposures that the average risk manager has to analyse is, frankly, daunting. Come to think of it, ‘average risk manager’ is a massive contradiction in terms.
Insurance Times is taking a team to this year’s conference and so I’m working out what will fit into the diary. ‘The state of the insurance market’ is the topic for the opening forum discussion at this year’s event and I’m looking forward to hearing what Arthur J Gallagher chief executive David Ross, JLT Group chief executive Dominic Burke, ACE Group chairman Andrew Kendrick and Chartis EMEA president and chief executive Rob Schimek have to say about it.
